Day 1: Agadir ⇨ Taroudant ⇨ Taliouine ⇨ Foum Zguid ⇨ Erg Chegaga*
Depart from Agadir early in the morning with a fascinating stop to admire the ancient ramparts of Taroudant city. Continue to Taliouine, renowned for its saffron production. After a few hours of driving, we reach Taznakht for a lunch break. Then, via Foum Zguid, we will traverse the gravel desert and pass by a fossil site. Our journey will lead us across the vast expanse of Lac Iriki, a dried-out lake in a solitary desert landscape glistening white in the sunlight, to reach the immense sand dunes of Erg Chegaga, where nomads still live with herds of camels today. You will savor the rugged beauty, endless vastness, and tranquility of the desert. Experience the constant change of light as the sun shifts, transforming this ancient landscape into a surreal dreamscape. Enjoy a picturesque sunset from the back of a camel. Dinner and overnight stay in a nomad tent or under the starlit sky in a bivouac.
Day 2: Erg Chegaga ⇨ M'hamid ⇨ Zagora ⇨ Ait Ben Haddou
Depart in the morning with a 4×4 to M'hamid, with a visit to the Kasbah of Tamnougalt and crossing the Draa palm grove on track. Join the main road until Zagora. After a short break with a panoramic view of the Draa Oasis and palm groves, the tour continues to Ait Ben Haddou via the Ait Saouen Gorge and Ouarzazate. Overnight stay in a Kasbah at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved and most spectacular Kasbahs in Morocco.
Day 3: Ait Ben Haddou ⇨ Agadir
After breakfast, enjoy the views of the valley and the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, located in Souss-Massa-Draa on a hill along the Ouarzazate River. Films such as "Lawrence of Arabia," "Jesus of Nazareth," and more recently, "Gladiator" were filmed at Ait Ben Haddou, which was once a significant stop for traders carrying gold, salt, and slaves along the famous Southern Caravan route through the Sahara. After exploring this remarkable site, we will drive back to Agadir, with the option of a free drop-off at Agadir Airport instead of returning to the hotel.
